The purpose of the Recovery Outreach Community Center is to provide Peer Recovery Support Services to those in need by partnering and leveraging resources to strengthen individuals, preserve families, and build strong communities through peer empowerment in education, community outreach, social support systems. Our goal is to foster programs that alleviatethe stigma and obstacles of an individual and their families recovering from the effects of substance use disorder, mental health disorders and those struggling with other barriers. This will be accomplished by organizing educational and training programs intended to combat the problems associated with sustaining long-term recovery.
Friday fun night, by design, is a substance free event where people can go and enjoy themselves without any risks to their recovery. An additional benefit to that ideal is families can gather as well. My children look forward all week to Friday fun night. They get to play with other kids and mingle as well. I love it cause it is the one night I don’t have to cook dinner!
I love coming to our meeting at the ROCC it has a calming environment to me. It is the one meeting that I feel at home in, I’m able to express myself, and share honestly with my others in the program.
